Agribusiness & Farm Insurance Specialist (AFIS) Designation:
The AFIS Designation is the foremost professional designation for specialists in the agricultural and farm insurance industry.

There are three parts of the designation which can be taken in any order. Participants must attend the course study for each of the AFIS parts. Each part consists of two days of classes and an exam administered online at their convenience.
AFIS 1 topics discussed are: Farm Property, Farm Property Endorsements, Farm Liability, and Farm LiabilityEndorsements.
AFIS Part 2 topics include: Farm/Ag Risk Management, Farm Auto & Truck Exposures, Workers' Compensation/MWA, and Umbrellas and Excess.
AFIS Part 3 topics are: Ag Pollution, Equipment Breakdown, Farm Inland Marine, Livestock& Animal Mortality, Crime, Management Liability, and Crop Overview.
Participants may take the AFIS classes in any order. Participants may enroll in the classes without sitting for the exam. However the exam is necessary to earn the AFIS designation. The exam is administered online after the conference.

Maintaining Your Designation:
Every Year:
Annually, AFIS Designees should complete six (6) hours of any AFIS approved CE Seminar, Webinar, or Farm Conference offered by their Big "I" state association (The IIAN Winter Conference qualifies!), PIA of North Dakota, state Farm Bureaus, company training, or the RMA/USDA.
Every Three Years:
Every three(3) years from the date the designation is received, AFIS Designees must attend the Agribusiness Conference at the location of their choosing.
