| "As you may know, the Big “I" has been addressing and discussing racial justice, diversity and inclusion with our state leaders, national leaders, and IIABA staff. We are pleased to have hosted several state leaders “Inclusion in Action" calls in response to the recent social unrest surrounding these issues. Thank you to board members and state association staff from over half of our state associations that took time out to join in on meaningful dialogue on various ways we can and should respond to the issue of racial injustice. Click here to access a summation of the meeting notes and leadership calls that took place last month. Here are several action items some of our state associations have implemented in response:
- Acknowledgement of Juneteenth
- Connecting with local NAAIA chapters
- Development of state Big “I" diversity task forces / councils
- Formal / informal conversations on race in America with staff / boards
- Minority scholarship funds for pre-licensing, agency on-boarding and collegiate studies focused on insurance
- Sharing resources to better educate members on race in America
- Social justice email statements to members by leadership
- Social media posts promoting social justice
The Big “I" is proud to have taken significant steps to address fairness and freedoms for all, and we look forward to continuing to provide guidance and resources for independent agents & brokers and our industry on this important topic. Should you have any questions, suggestions, or ideas, please contact Whitnee Dillard at Whitnee.dillard@iiaba.net" -Bob Rusbuldt, President & CEO of Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America
