| IIAN President Vince Christensen announced today that Ann Ames will be the next CEO to lead the association. Ames joins the Big “I" team on July 5, and will succeed current CEO Carol McClelland, CAE, who is retiring in October 2022, after 35 years as IIAN's CEO.“Ann Ames is a highly-regarded and accomplished professional executive, with experience in the private sector, local government, and as head of a non-profit foundation," said Christensen. “Her background in government relations in Nebraska, non-profit management, and local government management makes her an ideal fit for the CEO role at IIAN. We are excited to start our next chapter with Ann at the helm." Ames comes to IIAN as an experienced executive, most recently as Vice President of government affairs for Windstream, and Deputy Chief Administrative Officer for Lancaster County, where she actively worked with labor negotiations, legislative issues, special projects, budgeting, social media, and community engagement. In addition, she served for seven years as Executive Director of the Papillion Community Foundation. “I am so excited to be part of Big 'I' Nebraska, and very honored to be chosen for this role. I am looking forward to getting to know our members and continuing and building the member services that the IIAN board, Carol and her team have provided," said Ames. Originally from Nebraska City, Ames earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication studies at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of San Francisco. She has served on the boards of a number of local community organizations, and is a graduate of Leadership Academies of Leadership Lincoln, Leadership Sarpy, City of Papillion, and the Nebraska Association of County Officials Institute of Excellence. ---
