Course Descriptions

Road Rage - 1 P&C CEUs

This course will discuss a road rage incident which resulted in one fatality. Attendees will hear the facts of the accident in detail and then will learn what coverages were needed to respond to the loss and what exclusions applied to the loss.

If it Moves on the Farm it Presents a Risk - 2 P&C CEUs

Items which move present substantial risk to our clients.  Whether an item is mobile under its own power or is provided mobility via another method, the exposures are real and dramatic.  This presentation will address the exposures associated with items that move – both under their own power and those provided mobility by other vehicles.  The purpose of this presentation is to remind the agent that the policy forms we use can certainly provide the coverages necessary for the exposures, but without careful review of these forms, their many exclusions can prove problematic.  The basis of the presentation will be the coverages for “mobile equipment” found in the farm liability forms routinely used in the agribusiness market, the coverages for owned and non-owned vehicles found in the Personal Auto Policy (PAP), and the “auto” coverages found in the Business Auto Policy (BAP).  Use of the exclusions found in each of these forms will solidify the understanding of the risks associated with items that move.

Insuring Drones and Other Modern Transit Risks 2 P&C CEUs

From drones in the sky to self-driving cars to tourists buzzing around on rented scooters, innovations in transportation are moving all around you. This session discusses the latest on drones and transportation tech and explores the many exposures and coverage concerns created by their use.

Insuring Truckers 3 P&C CEUs

This course will cover all the main exposures faced by truckers and the coverages needed to protect them.

Speaker Biographies

Samuel T. Bennett, CIC, AFIS, CRIS, CPIA, CPRM

Sam Bennett.jpgSam Bennett is an active retail producer, presenter, and shareholder in Harrison Agency, Inc. of Columbia, MO. He began his insurance career in 1987 and has been an Independent Insurance Agent from the beginning. He has worked with individuals, families, and small businesses his entire career. In this capacity, he has worked in the personal lines, commercial lines, agribusiness and life and health marketplaces. As a result of working with many types of clients, many carriers, and many coverage needs, Sam has grown to understand and appreciate the important ways an insurance professional must work with markets and clients in today’s insurance world.

Sam obtained his Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation in 1996. He has taught coursework for the National Alliance in their CISR program since 2000, has presented in their CIC program since 2004, and in 2009 became a National Faculty Member of the Society of CIC. Sam is also a speaker in IRMI’s Agribusiness and Farm Insurance Specialist (AFIS) program and is a speaker in the AIMS Society’s Certified Professional Insurance Agent (CPIA) program. He has been called upon to offer insurance education in conferences and symposiums across the country over the past twenty plus years.

As much as he enjoys speaking on insurance topics, Sam’s true passion is cooking. BBQ and soul food are his specialties. He likes nothing more than a lively pulled pork/crawfish/catfish/collard green discussion.
