Nebraska Young Agents, Staff Attend Big 'I' Fall Leadership Conference

Rainbow-AmericanFalls.jpgA group of IIAN members and staff had a great time at the National Big "I" Fall Leadership Conference at Niagara Falls last week!

Big "I"  state association leaders, education directors, and young agent liaisons had memorable experiences and discussions and brought back new ideas to help their agencies and Big “I” Nebraska thrive.  Representing IIAN at the National Big "I" Board meeting were Deb Schilz, CIC, CISR, National Director, and Carol McClelland, CAE, IIAN CEO.

Education Convocation

IIAN Director of Education Katie Kochenower, CIC, CRM, AIP, attended the Education Convocation Sept. 13-15.  Katie gathered many new and interesting ideas through collaboration with other Big "I" state associations and will be working on some exciting new offerings for you in the months to come!

- IIAN was recognized as a Diamond Elite recipient of the 2022 Excellence in Insurance Education Award! The Diamond Elite award is the highest level of recognition, given to those states that have earned Diamond awards for 10 or more consecutive years, a testament to IIAN's commitment to education.

- Need help with new employee training? After the new year,  IIAN will be rolling out a New Hire Onboarding Program with step-by-step processes to help educate and orient your employees in an interactive on-demand format.

Young Agents Leadership Institute

Vince-Kelly-Jon.jpgThe Young Agents Leadership Institute took place Sept. 15-17 and was attended by young agents Kelly Brink, Dodge Partners (Omaha); Vince Christensen, Christensen Insurance (St. Paul); Jon Hongsermeier, AIP, of Adams Insurance Advisors (North Platte); and Zak Morken, First State Insurance (Lincoln), as well as Jacilyn Bruns, IIAN Communications Director.

The YALI keynote speaker Lance Allred, the first deaf player in NBA history, shared his incredible story of how he overcame adversity throughout his life and made it to the NBA. He defined his 5 Principles of Perseverance, which were accountability, integrity, compassion, discomfort, and being a leader of your own life.

The brand new Trusted Choice mascot, Indy the Eagle, made his debut! Young agents at the conference were among the first to meet him.

During another workshop session with Peter MacDonald of Wunderite, we learned about new automation tools of the trade to bring home to IIAN members.

We also had a great time networking with young agents and liaisons from other states, brainstorming ideas for young agent development and community service projects.

Big ‘I’ Installs New Leadership

During the IIABA Board meeting, the Big “I” installed John Costello, of USI Insurance Services in Rochester, New York,  as 2022-23 Big “I” chairman.  Costello succeeds Bob Fee, president of Fee Insurance Group Inc. in Hutchinson, Kansas.
