When the COVID-19 pandemic began, Grinnell Mutual had a plan and took swift action to protect its employees and customers, transitioning more than 600 people to working from home within two days. It certainly wasn’t business as usual, yet it might as well have been. Our agents, mutuals, and policyholders never felt a thing.
When an inland hurricane and its aftermath plowed through more than half of Grinnell Mutual’s writing states, we handled a record number of claims resulting in a record single-event payout. Even so, our bottom line remains strong and we have continued to grow.
And in the midst of it all, we were still there for our community — helping kids get access to the technology they needed to keep learning, pitching in with chainsaws and cash and meals.
